President Trump’s Executive Order Regarding Additional Unemployment Benefits

President Trump issued an executive order this weekend that included, in part, allowing up to an additional $400 per week to be provided to eligible claimants receiving unemployment benefits. This new benefit would replace the previous $600 additional benefit, which expired on July 25, 2020.

The Delaware Division of Unemployment Insurance is expecting to receive guidance later this week from the United States Department of Labor and FEMA, in order to properly interpret the implementation and funding options that are available to states. We will share information on our website and social media as soon as we have updates.

As per the President’s executive order, once implemented, benefits would be retroactive to the week ending August 1, 2020. Claimants must continue to certify for each claim week they are unemployed. Doing so will ensure that you continue to receive your weekly benefit amount, and any backdated payments, once the additional stipend is implemented and you are found eligible.
